Insurance is a device which reduces the cost of loss or effect of loss caused by variety of risks. It accumulates funds to meet individual losses and provides safety and security for untoward losses.Life insurance is a contract for payment of sum assured to the insured or the nominee. The policyholder gets an amount during maturity or at specified dates at periodic intervals or the nominee in the event of death. The obligation on the part of the policyholder is the payment of fixed amount known as the ‘premium’ periodically to the corporation. Life insurance is a process by which certainty for uncertainty is ensured. About the Authors
Dr. C.V. Sugantha Mani is presently working as an Assistant Professor in Economics at CMS College of Arts and Commerce, Coimbatore (T.N.). She has over nine years of teaching experience at various B-Schools. She is a dynamic and visionary professor.She has many research papers and articles published in coveted journals of International and National repute.
Dr. M. Nagesh Kumari, Associate Professor in Economics, PSGR Krishnammal College for Women, College for Excellence, Coimbatore (T.N.), has twenty-three years of teaching and research experience with a passion for learning.
She has worked as “Research Editor” in the Centre for Development Research and Training (CFDRT), Chennai. She has successfully completed the UGC funded two minor projects and one major project. The report of minor project on “Socio-Economic Profile of Women Prisoners” was published as a book. She wrote more than thirty articles which were published in the edited volumes and reputed journals of national and international.
She has guided sixteen M.Phil. scholars in economics and management, five Ph.D. scholars, forty MBA projects and more than forty group projects. She is a value-added and reflective teacher.
Dr. M. Nagesh Kumari has received the Junior Economist Award from the Association of Economists of Tamil Nadu (AET), Tiruchirapalli; Bharat Siksha Ratan Award from the Global Society for Health and Educational Growth, New Delhi; Dr. Radhakrishnan Gold Medal Award from the Global Economic Progress and Research Association, Tamil Nadu; and Best Researcher Award from All India Academic Researchers Association, Tiruchirapalli, (T.N.).
