The Book
In banking industry, the risk is an inevitable phenomenon and is very difficult to eliminate risks. It is highly inevitable to predict the occurrence of the various risks. It necessitates on the part of every banker to adapt apt and appropriate measures to handle the situation most effectively. Now the banks follow various measures and practices through their separate risk management department to minimize the risks. Even then, the banks face different types of risks like credit risks, liquidity risks, interest rate risks, operational risks and foreign exchange risks in their business. The occurrence of these risks has a significant influence not only on the success of the bank but also on the customers and the society as a whole. In India, the New Generations Banks (NGB) and Old Generation Banks (OGB) occupy a pivotal position among the banks in the field of risk management. Hence, it is highly relevant to develop and adopt suitable strategies and practices to manage the risk of the banks most effectively. It is against this background the authors have attempted to fulfill this.
The book comprises seven chapters including an introduction and summing up. It is hoped that the book will be useful to management, executives and all those interested in the banking sector, policymakers, academicians and researchers in commerce, economics and management studies.
